- After creating a Windows partition in Boot Camp 2.0 in Mac OS X 10.5, reboot from the Windows XP installer CD. Format the Windows partition before continuing with the rest of the Windows XP setup process. Do not select 'Leave the current file system intact (no changes)' or 'Convert the partition to NTFS' or the installation may fail.
I just bought a new Mac Mini and am trying to install Windows XP (OEM Version) on it via Bootcamp and VMWare Fusion. Both programs tell me that they cannot find an install disc. I borrowed a copy of Win XP from a buddy of mine and the same thing happened. These are not original discs but copies made from the originals. This is a Mini Core 2 Duo 1.83Ghz with a Matshita combo drive. The disc(s) mount on the desktop but are still not recognized by either program. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
HelloMy Mac Mini – not so much. No games, no work not much to do with it at all. I had a contingency plan. In the back of my mind, I knew that buying a Mac could be a mistake. I also knew that I could simply use Boot Camp to turn my Mac into a PC. I decided to install Windows on my Mac. Not surprisingly, my Mac didn’t go quietly. Create the modified Windows XP installation CD (using Nero on a PC). Prepare the hard drive in the mini (bye-bye, data!). You’ll be making two partitions, one for OS X, one for XP. Install OS X on.
